I didn't substitute in this recipe.
Based on what the recipe called for, I used a 1 1/2 quart slow cooker for this. The one pound of ham 'just' fit into the cooker and the cola/ketchup mixture filled in the space.
I buy a cooked pork shoulder when it's on special at the grocery store for recipes like this. Mostly I cut it into cubes and bag it in one cup lots. Three cups more or less made my pound of ham.
I just had to try this recipe because it sounds so gross, but surprisingly, it was good. The vote was mixed on it however. Too sloppy was a negative comment, which was a plus in my book. Go figure.
I'd make it again.
