Simple White Rice
2 1/4 cups water
1 cup raw long-grain converted rice
3 tablespoons margarine
1/2 to 1 tablespoon dried or minced fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
Spray the inside of the slow cooker with cooking spray
Put the water, raw rice, margarine, parsley, and salt in the slow cooker and stir to combine. Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours, or just until the rice is tender.
Makes 6 servings.
I used dried parsley
Because of the size of the recipe, I used a 1 1/2 quart slow cooker.
After seven hours, the bottom part of the slow cooker was mushy rice. The top part was still uncooked.
I didn't even bother to plate the recipe, because it simply wasn't cooked properly.
I can't help but think that I did something wrong, but I used my best 1 1/2 quart cooker that rarely fails me in terms of cooking, and there was only five ingredients.
This recipe won't deal any blows to a rice cooker.
I may experiment with it when I have time, but based on what I saw, I won't use this recipe again.
