Hot Buttered Lemonade

4 1/2 cups water
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp grated lemon peel
3/4 cup lemon juice
2 tbsp. butter
6 cinnamon sticks


Combine water, sugar, lemon peel, lemon juice, and butter in slow cooker.

Cover. Cook on High 2 1/2 hours, or until well heated through.

Serve very hot with a cinnamon stick in each mug.

Makes 5 - 6 servings.
Jim's Comments:

I lessened the amount of sugar because one of us is a diabetic.

It all fit into a 3 1/2 quart slow cooker.

A mixed results recipe.

The diabetic said it tasted funny. The other comment was 'yuck'. I thought it was o.k., but because I lessened the amount of sugar, to make it more palatable for me I had to add more sugar.

I'm not sure I would make this recipe again, but if you like tart, lemony drinks, this would be your choice of recipes.
