Hot Cranberry Cider

1/2 gallon apple cider, or apple juice
2 cups cranberry juice
1/2 - 3/4 cup sugar, according to your taste preference
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp. whole allspice
whole orange studded with cloves


Put all ingredients except orange studded with cloves in slow cooker.

Cover. Cook on High 1 hour, and then on Low 4 - 8 hours, until thoroughly hot.

Float clove-studded orange in cooker. Serve hot.

Makes 10 -12 servings, more or less depending upon the size of the mugs/cups you use.
Jim's Comments:

All I had was cranberry-apple juice, so I used that.

I did this in a six quart slow cooker.

A nice drink, but everyone said one cup would have been their limit.

Sort of reminds me of a drink to be had in from of a fireplace after having been outside all day skiing or sledding. I don't think I'd drink this in the middle of summer.
