Apple Schnitz

16 oz. dried apples
3 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. salt


Combine apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in slow cooker.

Cover. Cook on Low 6 hours, or on High 2 1/2 hours.

Serve warm as a side dish.
Jim's Comments:

I didn't substitute in this recipe. I did perhaps 4 oz of dried apples and that gave the better part of three large servings or 4 smallish ones. 16 oz of dried apples is a lot of apples.

I made this in a 2 1/2 quart slow cooker.

Nicely done side dish. Different.

I'll make this recipe again.
