Barbecue Ribs

3 pounds beef simmering short ribs -- sliced
2 onions -- chopped
4 cloves garlic -- minced
1 cup water
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup fancy molasses
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons dried thyme
1 teaspoon dry mustard
3/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
1/2 cup cold water
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cider vinegar

Use 18- to 24- cup (4. 5 to 6 L) slow cooker. Add all ingredients to slow cooker except for 1/2 cup cold water, flour and vinegar. Cook on Low for 7 to 8 hours, or cook on High for 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours. Whisk water with flour. Add flour mixture to slow cooker. Cook on high for 15 to 20 minutes or until thickened. Stir in vinegar.
