Italian Spaghetti Sauce

1 48-oz can of crushed or tomatoes or tomato juice
2 2-oz cans of tomato paste
1 lb hamburger, or Italian sausage or half and half
1/4 c sugar
1 tsp Italian seasoning
2 bay leaves
1 medium onion diced
4-6 garlic cloves, crushed, peeled, diced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. course ground black pepper
1 lb fresh mushrooms, washed, rinsed and sliced

You can also add sweet bell peppers diced to this. Place all in slow cooker, mix well. Simmer on low for four to six hours (till meat is done) or longer if you like. The longer it cooks the better it gets.
