Cranberry Baked Apples

4 large cooking apples*
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup cran-apple juice cocktail (Ocean Spray)
2 tbsp margarine or butter, melted
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
Chopped nuts, if desired


Core apples. Fill centers of apples with brown sugar and cranberries. Place apples in 5-6 quart slow cooker.

Mix cran-apple juice and margarine; pour over apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours or until apples are tender.

To serve, spoon apples into dessert dishes. Spoon sauce over apples. Sprinkle with nuts. 4 servings.
