8 slices bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces ( 1/2 pound)
1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (20-ounce) can pork and beans
1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained
1 (15-ounce) can lima beans, drained
1 (15-ounce) can butter beans, drained
In a skillet, cook bacon until limp. Remove bacon; place in a slow cooker.
Drain bacon drippings; discard. Brown ground beef in skillet. Put beef, onion, salt, dry mustard, vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, tomato sauce, pork and beans, kidney beans, lima beans and butter beans in slow cooker; stir to combine.
Cook on low 4 1/2 to 5 hours.
Yield: 12 servings.
