Sauerkraut and Ribs

2 lbs ribs (country or reg)
1 pkg. sauerkraut (rinse and drain well)
1 large onion - chopped
1/4 cup applesauce or apple cider
3/4 cup chicken broth or beer
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 to 2 teaspoons caraway seed
pepper to taste
salt after cookng if needed

Cut ribs into serving size--and brown in a small amount of oil. Remove from pan and add onion and brown sugar to pan; and cook till onion is light brown. Combine with sauerkraut in the slow cooker. Add applesauce OR cider; and broth OR beer; caraway seed and pepper cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Serves 4.
