Chinese Pepper Steak
1 1/2 lbs. boneless round steak
2 clove minced garlic
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup soy sauce
4 tbsp. hoisin sauce
2 tsp. sugar 28 oz. cans whole, peeled tomatoes - quartered
1/4 cup juice from tomatoes
2 red or green peppers, cut into strips
6 tbsp. cornstarch
6 tbsp. water
6 green onions, finely chopped
Hot cooked rice
Trim fat from steak. Slice meat into strips. Combine steak, garlic, salt, pepper, soy sauce, hoisin sauce and sugar in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low about 4 hours. Turn to High. Add tomatoes, onions, peppers and tomato juice. Dissolve cornstarch in water in small bowl. Stir into steak mixture. Cover and cook on High 40 minutes to 1 hour or until thickened. Serve over rice.
