Apple Cranberry Crisp

3 apples - (any kind)
1 cup cranberries
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup rolled oats - (quick cooking)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup butter -- softened

Peel, core and slice apples. Place apple slices and cranberries in slow cooker. Mix remaining ingredients in separate bowl and sprinkle over top of apple and cranberries.

Place 4 or 5 paper towels over the top of the slow cooker, place an object (perhaps a wooden spoon) across the top of the slow cooker and set lid on top. This allows the steam to escape.

Turn slow cooker on HIGH and cook for about 2 hours.

This recipe yields 4 servings.
Jim's Comments:

I used Granny Smith apples. They were on sale.

I had leftover fresh cranberries from another recipe.

It disappeared. I'm sure that if I had left the insert on the table it would have been licked clean.

I found it borderline sweet/tart and the second helping that I had I added vanilla ice cream. Not sure if it improved or not, but it made a really nice dessert.

I served up small portions, but don't expect any more than 4 'normal' portions.

I was told to make this again.
