Creamy Vegetable Soup

1 lg Onion; chopped
1/4 c Butter
3 md Sweet potatoes; peeled, chopped
3 md Zucchini; chopped
1 bn Broccoli; chopped
2 qt Chicken stock or
2 qt Vegetable broth
2 md Red potatoes; shredded
3 Cloves garlic; minced
1 cn Creamed corn or
3/4 c Fresh corn kernels
1 ts Celery seed
1 ts Ground cumin
2 ts Salt
1 ts Pepper
2 c Light cream


Place all ingredients in a 4 to 5 quart slow cooker except cream. Cook on the low setting 6 to 8 hours or until sweet potatoes are tender. Ten minutes before serving, add the cream, if using. Heat through and serve.
