Hot Cranberry Sauce

2 cups fresh cranberries
3 1/2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup brown sugar -- packed
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup fruity red wine, whiskey or bourbon -- optional

Place cranberries and half of cranberry juice cocktail in the slow cooker on high. Cook until berries begin to burst, 1-2 hours. Dissolve cornstarch in remaining cranberry juice cocktail. Add dissolved cornstarch, brown sugar and lemon juice to mixture in cooker and turn to low. Cook until mixture begins to thicken. Turn cooker off. Add wine. Taste and adjust seasonings. Serve warm.
