Spiced Pot Roast
4 pounds beef rump or round roast
salt and pepper -- to taste
2 onions -- sliced
3 potatoes -- peeled, quartered
3 carrots -- sliced
1 cup water
1 package brown gravy mix
1/2 cup white wine
1/4 cup catsup
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
Sprinkle the meat with salt and pepper. Place the vegetables in the slow cooker and place the meat on top of them. Mix the remaining ingredients and pour over the meat and vegetables. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours. If you want to thicken the gravy, mix 2 Tbsp. each of flour and butter together and drop in the gravy. Cook on high until thickened.
