Christmas Eve Beef Stew

2 1/2 pounds beef stew meat
1 can whole tomatoes in juice (28 ounce)
1 cup chopped celery
4 medium carrots -- sliced
3 potatoes -- cubed
3 onions -- chopped
3/4 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/8 teaspoon ground thyme
1/8 teaspoon rosemary leaves
1/8 teaspoon ground marjoram
1/4 cup red wine
2 cups water
1 package frozen peas (10 oz. )

Place meat, tomatoes with juice, all the vegetables except the peas, tapioca, bouillon cubes, spices, water, and red wine in a slow cooker or Dutch oven; that's everything except the peas.

Bake in the Dutch oven at 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) for 5 to 6 hours, or all day in the slow cooker on medium-low. Add peas during last half hour of cooking.
