Asparagus and Cheese Side Dish

1-1/2 pounds fresh asparagus, trimmed
2 cups crushed saltine crackers
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of asparagus soup, undiluted
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1/4 pound American cheese, cut into cubes
2/3 cup slivered almonds
1 egg

Combine all ingredients in large bowl; stir well. Pour into slow cooker. Cover and cook on High 3 to 3-1/2 hours.
