1 pound extra lean ground turkey or beef
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup carrots, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
4 1/2 cups tomato juice
1 1/2 cups hot water
1 1/2 teaspoon chili seasoning
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup barley, uncooked
In large skillet, brown meat and onion. Put into slow cooker and add carrots, celery, tomato juice, water, chili seasoning, and black pepper. Add uncooked barley. Mix well to combine. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours. Mix well before serving.
