Fresh Tomato Sauce

4 c. peeled, seeded and finely chopped tomatoes
1 med. Onion, minced
1 1/2 tsp. leaf basil
1 tsp. sugar
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
3 cloves of garlic, crushed


Combine all ingredients in lightly oiled slow cooker. Cover and cook on Low for 6-12 hours or on High for 4 hrs. If a thicker sauce is desired, remove cover and cook on High until sauce in reduced.

About 5 cups. Double recipe for 5 quart
