Canny Beef Stew

2 lb Beef stew meat, cut in 1 inch cubes
1 cn Diced carrots(1 lb); drained
1 cn Small whole onions (1 lb); drained
1 cn Whole tomatoes (1 lb)
1 cn Peas (1 lb); drained
1 cn Cut green beans (1 lb); drained
1 cn Small whole potatoes (1 lb); drained
1/2 cn Beef consomme (10-1/2 oz)
1/4 c Quick-cooking tapioca
1 tb Brown sugar
1/2 c Fine dry bread crumbs
1 Bay leaf
1/2 c Dry white wine
Salt, pepper

Combine meat, carrots, onions, tomatoes, peas, green beans, potatoes, consomme, tapioca, brown sugar, bread crumbs, bay leaf and wine in large casserole or slow cooker. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Cover and bake at 250 degrees F. for 6 to 7 hours.
