Oyster Stew

1 can Oysters or 1/2 pint fresh Oysters
3 or 4 strips bacon
1 medium onion
1 stick margarine
Salt
Pepper
Pinch of thyme
2 cups water
2 cups milk
Flour or corn starch to thicken


Saute bacon, remove. Slice onion into drippings, saute until tender but not brown. Melt margarine in fry pan, chop Oysters and lightly brown in margarine mixture.


Put all of above ingredients in Dutch oven or slow cooker except milk and flour/cornstarch. Simmer slowly for 2 or 3 hours. Add 2 cups milk and thicken before serving.


Serve with Oyster crackers.
