1 Whole chicken, skinned (unless you want all that fat), about seven pounds (or bigger or smaller depending on the size of your slow cooker, adjust other ingredients accordingly)
1 c Water
1 md Onion, chopped
1 tb Salt
1 tb Pepper
7 oz Chopped canned mushrooms (fresh would be better)
1 ts Soy sauce
1/4 c Red cooking wine
1 tb Garlic powder
Put the whole works into a slow cooker, making sure to put some of the mushrooms and onions into the cavity of the bird. Cook for about 5 hours on medium heat.
Toward the end of the cooking time, you can also put some potatoes and carrots in with it - they come out with a really nice flavor to them!
