Hoagie rolls or brat buns are the best buns to use with these sausages.
Serve with sauce.
2 to 3 pounds uncooked Italian sausage links
1 cup sliced 1/8-inch onion
1 cup (1 medium) sliced 1/8-inch green bell pepper
1 cup water
1 (48 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
In 10-inch skillet place sausages; cover with water. Bring to a full boil; reduce heat to medium. Simmer 10 minutes; drain. In slow cooker stir together all remaining ingredients. Add sausages. Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours. Serve sausages with sauce on buns.
TIP: Sausage can be cut into 1-inch pieces and served with sauce over cooked spaghetti. 10 to 12 servings
