1 qt Water
1 c Stone-ground corn grits
Bring water to a boil, add 1/2 teaspoon salt, and whisk in the grits. Stir for the first minute or so, then lower the heat and cook for 35 to 40 minutes, giving an occasional stir. Or cook them in a slow cooker or double boiler . If you like texture in your cereal, add whole hominy, drained and rinsed, to breakfast grits.
